Our First Bitcoin Mining Diploma: 3 Days of Learning & Mining in Goa
Recently, something historic happened for us at AmityAge – in collaboration with Ourpool, we hosted our first-ever Bitcoin Mining Diploma (BMD), right in the sunny and vibrant Goa, India.
If you’re considering becoming a Bitcoin mining consultant – helping clients choose the right miner, evaluate energy setups, calculate ROI and profitability, or navigate the practical realities of mining – or if you're someone thinking about investing in mining but want to truly understand what you’re getting into, or simply curious about how the mining business works behind the scenes, this article is for you. It highlights not just what we taught during our Bitcoin Mining Diploma, but the very mindset, challenges, and frameworks you need before stepping into the world of Bitcoin mining.
Three days, a room full of curious minds, industry pros, miners, a kid who beat everyone in a quiz 😄, and a whole lot of “A-ha!” moments. Here’s a look into what made it so special.
What Is the Bitcoin Mining Diploma?
BMD is a 3-day beginner-friendly but practical training designed to help people:
– understand how Bitcoin mining really works
– learn hashrate math, pools, payouts & firmware
– explore solar/hydro/home mining setups
– see real miners, open them up & understand the hardware
– discover mining career paths, consulting opportunities & internships
In short: it’s where pre-miners become miners.
Day 1: From “What is Mining?” to “Let me explain Proof of Work to you…”
We kicked off with intros, a room full of stories, and a surprising diversity of backgrounds – from total beginners to electrical engineers, future consultants, and even a father-and-son duo who were with us all 3 days!
The sessions included:
• Intro to AmityAge & Ourpool
• Origins of Bitcoin Mining
• Mining Building Blocks
• The Mining Process
• Q&A, a fun Kahoot quiz, and… prizes!
A few Day 1 highlights people loved:
Mining is NOT about verifying transactions – it’s about ordering them into the blockchain
Proof of Work is not the process – it’s the result. For example, the proof of work in gold mining is the gold itself. Likewise, the proof of work in Bitcoin mining is the Bitcoin that is mined.
Hashcash – the real precursor to Bitcoin mining (shoutout to Adam Back)
We debunked mining myths – including the famous “boiling the ocean” narrative
We ran mining analogies with dice mini-games
We also opened our “mining pool of questions” – a space where participants placed their mining questions into the “mempool” to be cleared throughout the event.
And of course – we had our fun coffee-break game “Proof of Shake”.
The target difficulty on Day 1: roll a total of 6. Many tried… no one succeeded 😄
Day 2: Deep Into the ASIC Rabbit Hole
If Day 1 was theory + mindset shift, Day 2 was hands-on, technical and eye-opening.
Topics covered:
• ASIC Mastery & Optimization
• On-site farm design & planning
• Power systems & electrical engineering
• Cooling solutions
• Network architecture & site scouting
• Capex/Opex, ROI calculators & sensitivity analysis
• Hedging & risk management
• Energy markets & curtailment
• Mining in the energy sector: methane, waste heat, grid balancing
We even opened up a miner – pulled out hashboards, explored the hardware, and let participants “see the heart of the machine”.
And yes – someone beat the Proof-of-Shake difficulty!
Day 2 difficulty decreased to 8… and one participant succeeded in mining a block.
Gift bags surprise at the end!
Every participant received a BMD gift pack – cap, T-shirt, a magnet, and a very cool tote bag.

Day 3: Guest Speakers, Career Paths & Big Inspiration
The final day was dedicated to real-world cases, jobs, consulting, and global mining perspectives.
We were joined by brilliant guest speakers including:
• Fabian (Terahash) – Mining on renewables, Finland case studies
• Ihor Mariiko (Hiveon) – Firmware & software farm management
• Rushil Kamarudheen (Dahab Miners) – Mining in UAE
• Nico Smid (Digital Mining) – Personal branding as a mining consultant
We covered:
– case studies from Slovakia, Paraguay & Ethiopia
– solar mining – pros, cons, misconceptions
– firmware management & optimization
– Bitcoin-backed loans + how to integrate mining with BTC finances
– how to build a career in mining consulting
And then… time for Graduation.
Certificates, photos, smiles, and a new wave of future Bitcoin mining specialists ready to enter the space.
Hosting this program in Goa was more than just an educational event – it felt like planting seeds for the future of Bitcoin mining in India.
India has the talent and the curiosity.
And after this week, India has a new group of mining-educated Bitcoiners ready to take the first steps.
