Powering the Future: AmityAge's Newest Bitcoin Mining Data Centre in Addis Ababa

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for AmityAge: the successful commissioning of our second Bitcoin mining data centre in Ethiopia, located within the prestigious ICT Park in Addis Ababa. This expansion marks a pivotal step in our growth, building on the success of our initial facility in Hawassa and solidifying our presence in one of the most promising regions for digital asset infrastructure.

The ICT Park is more than just a location; it's a strategic hub designed to foster technological innovation. Operating as a special economic zone, it offers a streamlined, one-stop solution for all administrative and logistical needs, from duty-free customs clearance to dealing with the Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency (INSA). The government's proactive approach, including the provision of a dedicated security agency, ensures a secure and efficient environment, allowing us to focus on what we do best—powering the future of decentralised finance.

Our new Addis Ababa facility is a testament to our commitment to excellence. As one of the few operational Bitcoin mining data centres within the ICT Park, we are proud to report an uptime of over 99% to date. This reliability is a direct result of meticulous planning and world-class infrastructure. Our site boasts a dedicated security tower and our own security personnel, complementing the park’s existing measures to ensure the utmost safety of our operations.

During our recent site visit on August 2nd and 3rd, we were particularly impressed by the quality of the engineering. Our partners have built a truly exceptional facility, with an electrical system that is a cut above the rest. The clean, organised wiring and the inclusion of a feeder panel—a feature rarely seen in similar setups—are a testament to the expertise of our partners, one of whom is a seasoned electrical and communications engineer. This attention to detail extends to our local metering system, where every distribution box has its own meter, providing real-time data on the power consumption of each miner. Coupled with the internal security cameras, this level of transparency and control is unparalleled.

With an initial operational capacity of 2 MW and orders already placed for over 1,000 miners, we are scaling up rapidly to meet the growing demand for Bitcoin mining. The strategic location of our new data centre, just 10-15 minutes from the airport, ensures easy access and logistical efficiency. Furthermore, the upcoming substation right next to our site promises even greater stability and a seamless power supply for future expansions.
